Sandman's visual was inspired by bands like Bauhaus and The Cure. To make him more recognizable, I used tha latter's frontman as a base for the edit, adding elements after. 

Since it's been some decades from the release and the real life icons got older, I purposely removed quality from the picture to make it easier to find suitable pictures, and to give an uncanny vibe, as the unhuman character represents a concept.

At the end I wanted it to look like the comic's surrealist covers, but it was a hard thing to achieve making it from scratch, so I ended up with a B&W version, the Endless' most common colors, and a saturated version, using tones present in the official artworks.
